They have demonstrated that lumbar spine texture analysis using TBS is a risk factor for osteoporotic fracture and also for risk of death. The predictive ability of TBS is independent of FRAX clinical risk factors and femoral neck BMD; finally we have derived an algorithm to adjust probability of fracture from clinical risk factors and BMD to account for TBS, an approach that will require validation in further independent cohorts.
